Best places to spend a day out of the city

Take a day or two out from the metropolis – experience the other side of Hong Kong with rural and oceanic views, cool breezes and water fun at these places.

1.  Repulse Bay Beach/Deep Water Bay 淺水灣泳灘/深水灣

Venture a few minutes out of the city for a day of sand and fun at Repulse Bay Beach and Deep Water Bay. Walk the
promenade connecting the two and gaze at the sail boats and motor yachts. Stop at the Gun Yun Goddess Temple and make your wish come true.  MTR Central Exit A, then take Buses No. 6, 6A, 6X and 260.

淺水灣與深水灣都是都市之外玩沙戲水的好去處。從深水灣漫步至淺水灣，一路可極目遠眺海面上的帆船和遊艇，信步走到觀音廟許個願，享受平和寧謐。乘搭港鐵至中環站A出口，換乘巴士6號、6A、6X或260。

2.   Shek O & Big Wave Beach  石澳 & 大浪灣泳灘

Get your grill on as you watch the sunset barbecuing at Shek O Beach. “Full-service” BBQ joints along the beach offer you everything you need. Also check out Big Wave Bay Beach five minutes down the road – less packed, it has rental surfboards and other water sports equipment. Leave MTR Shau Kei Wan Exit A3 and take Bus No. 9 from the bus terminus and get off at Shek O.

你可以一邊在石澳的沙灘上悠閒地燒烤，一邊欣賞海上的日落。沿著沙灘有不少提供“全套服務”的燒烤場，為你做好全部準備。步行幾分鐘就可以來到大浪灣泳灘，這裡比較清靜，且提供衝浪板和其他水上運動設備的租賃服務。乘搭港鐵至筲箕灣站，轉乘9號巴士至石澳下車。

3.  Lantau Island 大嶼山

As the largest outlying island, Lantau offers visitors a different side of Hong Kong: the tranquility and peace of the green mountains, coastal waters, and an old fishing village that harks back to a bygone era. MTR Tung Chung Station, Exit B. Take bus 11 to Tai O.

大嶼山是香港最大的離島，展示了香港郊外寧謐祥和的別樣風景。遊客可以乘坐纜車感受山海之美，也可以去往經歷幾百年風雨的大澳漁村隨意閒逛。                                                                                                                                                    於港鐵東涌站B出口乘搭11號巴士往大澳。

4.長洲

Take a trip to Cheung Chau and enjoy its lush greenery, craggy hillsides, golden beaches and fascinating rock formations along the Mini Great Wall walk. Don’t miss the impressive seafood dai pai dong (a kind of cheap-and-cheerful outdoor restaurant) to satisfy your palates!                                                                                                               Take a short ferry ride (within 1h) from Pier 5 in Central to Cheung Chau.
